“Sound and Relation –
Sofia 07
Days of the new music
The
first edition of "Sound and Relation" Days of the New Music, will be held in the
“Red House” Centre for Culture and Debate - Sofia, Bulgaria in October/November
2007. The festival will feature many well-respected authors from different
countries and will present current trends in contemporary music and new ways of
dealing with the relation between music and other arts.

The
festival highlights
will include a special concert with contemporary Austrian music by Dieter
Kaufmann,
Martin Lichtfuss,
Rene Staar, Wladimir Panchev, Norbert Sterk and Gerald Resch in
cooperation with AKM - Austria the "Sound and Relation".
Tan Dun's Elegy: Snow
in June, a concerto for Cello and Percussion ensemble will receive its
Bulgarian premiere by the Bulgarian violoncellist Gheorghita Bojadjieva
among other Bulgarian premieres of pieces by leading composers such as
Tom Johnson, John Corigliano, Philip Glass and Luciano Berio.
Holland performance artist Carolin de Neree and Denise Pakes
will
lead the "Visualization of music" workshop and will
present contemporary European electro-acoustic music.
"Sound and Relation" will host the world premieres of music by notable Bulgarian composers
of the older and younger generations, such as
Vassil Kazandjiev,
Rumen Baljozov, Bojidar Spassov,
Wladimir Pantchev,
Gheorghi Arnaoudov,
Petar Doundakov, Gueorgui Harizanov, Alexandra.
One of the leading contemporary music performers, Bulgarian soprano Rositza
Panayotova will pewrform solo and ensemble music by Luciano Berio, Arvo
Paert, Bojidar Spassov, Gheorghi Arnaoudov as well as contemporary version of
madrigals from the Italian baroque in a theatrical setting.
The “Sofia Soloists” chamber ensemble conducted by Plamen Djourov will
present the world premiers of work by Dai Fujikura, Alexandra Fol and
Mihail Goleminov as well as two “conceptual” symphonies by Rumen Balyozov.

"Sound and Relation" Festival is presented
in
cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, AKM – Vienna, The Red House Center,
Bulgarian National Radio, Radio France International – Sofia, Altera – Sofia,
and
the
"Counterpoint" Broadcast of Hristo Botev Program of BNR.
