Sound and Relation – Sofia '08
Days of the new music

The second edition of "Sound and Relation" Days of the New Music, will be held in the “Filip Koutev” Concert hall of the Union of Bulgarian Composers and "Bulgaria" Chamber Hall of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, Sofia from 15 to 22 October 2008. The festival will feature many well-respected authors from different countries and will present current trends in contemporary music and new ways of dealing with the relation between music and other arts.

The festival highlights will include a special concerts with the music of
Julia Tsenova, Stefan Dragostinov, Wladimir Pantchev and  Dimiter Christoff connected with their anniversaries,  contemporary Austrian music by Paul Walter Fürst, Germán Toro-Pérez, Alexander Stankovski, Paul Hertel,  and Erich Urbanner presented in cooperation with AKM - Austria and the "Sound and Relation" Festival.

"Sound and Relation" will host the world premieres of music by notable Bulgarian composers of the older and younger generations, such as Vassil Kazandjiev, Wladimir Pantchev, Adrian Pavlov, Adrian Pervazov,.
Leading contemporary music performers, as Bulgarian sopranos Albena Naydenova or Rositza Panayotova will perform solo and ensemble music by Luciano Berio, Arvo Paert, Alexander Goehr, Paul Walter Fürst, as well as contemporary version of madrigals from the Italian baroque in a theatrical setting.


The
Sound and Relation – Sofia '08 Days of the new music is presented in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, AKM – Vienna, New Bulgarian University, Bulgarian National Radio, Radio France International – Sofia, and Altera – Sofia, and Österreichische Musikzeitschrift Magazines.
